I had to remove two nails as he suggested this will resolve my issue. When he removed the first two nails, he took sample to check if actually I have fungal infection. After two weeks I removed another two nails. When I revisited him to check my nails again, he told me that the fungal infection came back. I asked him if he had checked the test results and he told me no. He checked when I was there, and the results were negative for fungal infection. He started speaking about removing my nails permanently and at the end he said that he will phone me as he doesn't know. He phoned me and he told me that the situation cannot change as he asked a few colleagues. He charged me £110 to tell me that he doesn't know and £110 for the phone call. I find it unacceptable and completely unprofessional as he caused me pain without checking the results.
Thank you for your feedback and I am genuinely very sorry you have had a bad experience. As far as the cost of your face to face and telephone follow ups are concerned, as I haven’t been able to help you, I would be happy to refund you the cost of your last consultation. I tried to explain the situation over the telephone to you but I apologise if I wasn’t clear enough. Samples sent for assessment for fungal infection do not always return positive. The appearance of your nails still suggested fungal infection as the most likely diagnosis. My first suggested treatment option for you was non-operative in the form of a prolonged course of anti-fungals both topical and maybe oral also, but you didn’t like this option and chose nail removal under local anaesthetic, to hopefully allow healthier nails to grow back. I did send one of your removed nails for assessment for fungal infection and this was again negative but we had already agreed to remove all 4 affected nails and that treatment plan was not dependent on the result of the fungal assessment as I’ve mentioned - the results aren’t always reliable. Your nails have grown back now and although initially they seemed healthier they started to again develop a thickened and ridged appearance. I suspected you may have sustained a repetitive injury to your toes through sport in this case, which was leading to your nails taking this appearance. I discussed your case with two colleagues: another foot and ankle surgeon and a podiatrist and they agreed it must be injury-related changes to your nails. They also agreed that even with injury-related changes, it was worth trying to remove the nails and allow healthier nails to grow back but unfortunately in your case they didn’t grow back healthier. This suggests repetitive injury to your nail beds and it is therefore possible your nails will permanently have this appearance. I then mentioned two options to you. Firstly, if you can manage with the nails as they are, which when we last met face to face, you agreed you might be able to, then obviously there should be no further treatment. Secondly, if you felt you couldn’t manage then another option is to have the nails removed and chemically treat your nail beds to stop them growing back. I hope this helps clarify the course of our interactions since we first met until now. Once again, I am sorry I was not able to help you. Please contact me through my secretary if you would like to discuss anything further. Thank you

I attended an appointment yesterday afternoon, I did not wait any time to see Mr Khan/Dr. Rob, I was spoken to in a kind and caring manner. Everything was explained, I was sent for an xray straight away awaited results, I was then asked to take a look at x-ray's, which gave a diagnosis of the pain had a been suffering for weeks, I cannot fault the care I received, I don't believe it would have any better if I had paid for Private consultation Thank you

Mr Khan has an excellent manner. He was very clear about my procedure before surgery and made sure I was fully aware of what was happening. He came to see me both before and straight after surgery. On my follow up appointment he removed my stitches and explained my aftercare perfectly. I have seen him today where he fully explained the procedure showing me my X-rays and talking me through exactly what he had done and how my toe will feel moving forward. He has discharged me from his care today and I couldn’t be happier with the care I have had from Mr Khan, he treated me with respect and gave me confidence as I continue my recovery. Thank you Mr Khan again for your care and support.

Mr.Khan took the time to reassure me and explained things about my operation that I could understand. He treats me as a person and not a number.
