I was in extreme pain with my right hip, as well as experiencing chronic pain with severe scoliosis. After my initial appointment, Mr. Latham decided to use the Optimal Positioning System for surgery, which planned my Total Hip Replacement Surgery based on a 3-D printed jig model. Mr Latham also managed to level-up my pelvis, enabling an improved postural result. All the risks and positives of surgery were clearly explained, and all queries were responded to promptly by Mr. Latham, whose professional, considerate manner throughout, has given me confidence and re-assurance. The My Recovery App has helped me focus on each stage of my recovery. The Consultant has immensely improved the quality of my life.

The experience was excellent in every respect. I did think I/we had made a decision to proceed with a hip replacement, instead of other measures described, but now that I have read the Professor`s post-consultation letter, I am not sure a replacement is agreed. For the avoidance of doubt, I DO want to have a hip rplacement, please.

This is my 2nd hip replacement. I had a leg discrepancy of nearly 2 cms after the first. Mr Murphy has corrected that, which I am pleased about. I have a much larger scar but I’d rather have that than one leg longer than the other. I’m recovering well. Thank you Mr Murphy.

I learnt 50pct of information regarding my diagnosis through questions rather than having it explained in full straight off. Perhaps he assumed I had more medical knowledge than I do. He was very pleasant though.

Can’t rate Mr Davidson highly enough! I was referred to him by my GP due to osteoarthritis in both knees. X-rays had already confirmed this. On our first meeting, he X-rayed my hips and found the same problem. One total hip replacement and total replacement of both knees was therefore necessary. This was August. By March all three operations were completed. Before he started, we checked his statistics online. In a trade where practice really does make perfect, he had completed a greater than average number of procedures with less than average complications. This is no doubt due to his thoroughness and attention to detail which was mentioned by his registrars in post-op discussion as being above average. He instils confidence with his cheerful, friendly and humorous personality and a calmness which belies the stress that must accompany this job. My operations were all completed successfully and I am very pleased with the results. At 68 I had developed the gait of a 90-year old, but have been transformed by these ops into......a normal 68 year old (at least)! Many, many thanks.

I chose Professor Hart for my hip replacement surgery partly because of his interest in exercise, and he has given me lots of advice on how best to exercise to help my recovery. I was also delighted to be told by my physio, who specialises in hip and knee problems, that she had never seen such a wide range of motion after a hip replacement. Much of the credit must go to Professor Hart.
