Surgical procedure explained thoroughly together with risks/complications. Questions answered clearly. Put at ease when Mr VDB confirmed he had conducted many of these operations previously. Post-surgery pathology analysis was expedited to confirm that the colon resection contained the cancerous lesion found during biopsy. The need for a second laparoscopic low anterior resection surgery was communicated promptly and was organised/conducted the day after initial surgery. I was nervous pre-surgeries however Mr VDB and surgical team were very reassuring and caring and I felt I was in good hands. The operations were successful in removing the cancerous lesion and lymph nodes. The cancer stage was communicated and explained to me (St3A) along with recommendation to start adjuvant chemotherapy. I recovered well from the operations with no need for a stoma. Mr VDB is an excellent surgeon with a good sense of humour, approachable, and makes you feel comfortable with his friendly, caring manner. I feel lucky to have had such a talented, knowledgeable surgeon and would not hesitate to recommend to others.

Initial consultation & procedures were dealt with well & quite quick. However, I then had to chase for a follow up, as there was still no reason identified for my diagnosis. The secretary is difficult to get hold, often no replies to emails, so followed up through Spire secretaries. Eventually got a telephone appt, but didn't get called, was then told I should have gone in-person. Next appt cancelled at short notice. Re-schedule appt the Professor didn't turn up, was then told clinic was cancelled, but had no notification, so resulted in a wasted journey. Not sure if I can now be bothered with the hassle to follow up on my health issues!
