Mr Patrick Harkin is a highly experienced Counsellor and Psychotherapist, with a career spanning back to 1999, where he initially began as a mental health nurse within the HSE. He holds full accreditation with the Irish Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (IACP) and operates a private practice alongside his role in public healthcare.

Patrick's extensive educational background includes a Diploma in Psychiatric Nursing and a Higher Diploma in Acute & Enduring Mental Issues, both from University College Cork (UCC). He furthered his training with a Diploma in Integrative Humanistic Counselling from Cork Counselling Centre and obtained certification as a Critical Incident Stress Management Officer through the University of Maryland and HSE.

In addition to his clinical practice, Patrick is deeply involved in mental health advocacy and education. He conducts mental health workshops covering various aspects of mental well-being and serves as an accredited suicide prevention trainer with the QPR Institute. His dedication to suicide prevention extends to establishing a local charity focused on this cause, which has steadily grown in impact over the years.

As an integrative therapist, Patrick combines insights and techniques from multiple therapeutic approaches to tailor treatment plans that best meet the individual needs of his clients. His therapeutic style is characterised by an open-minded, non-judgemental, respectful, and collaborative approach.
