Dr Savyasachi Thakkar is a dedicated Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon specialising in Hip and Knee Reconstructive Surgery at Clemenceau Medical Center. He is also an Assistant Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery at Johns Hopkins, USA. His expertise lies in minimally invasive hip and knee surgery, including partial and total hip and knee replacement, outpatient joint replacement, and complex revisions following previous joint replacement. Dr Thakkar utilises computer and robotic-assisted techniques for these procedures, ensuring state-of-the-art care for patients dealing with hip and knee arthritis.

Dr Thakkar earned his medical degree from the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine in 2010 and completed his residency with the Johns Hopkins Department of Orthopaedic Surgery in 2015. He was the inaugural recipient of the Ronald P. Byank leadership award during his time as a chief resident. Furthering his expertise, he pursued a knee arthritis and traumatology fellowship in Switzerland, followed by an adult reconstruction fellowship in New York in 2016. Additionally, he underwent the European Knee Society travelling fellowship, focusing on advanced surgical techniques in arthritis management.

Alongside his clinical practice, Dr Thakkar has research interests in the technological advancements in arthritis treatment, post-traumatic arthritis, the economic impact of arthritis, and the optimization of hospital protocols for arthritis management. He also explores the possibilities of same-day joint replacement surgery, aiming to help patients minimise their hospital stay and maximise their return to function.
