We had an emergency after my son broke his arm. Dr Assad directly suggested a method that can be used without much pain and long term damage. We had great confidence from the beginning despite the upcoming direct surgery. Dr Assad was always there for us during the entire treatment and my son had no fear or even shyness because he always treated us great. After 10 weeks we can now say that everything has healed and the treatment without screws etc. was exactly right. He has been there for us with all questions and took a lot of time! We are very happy that we met dr Assad on this accident day, who has helped us super!

Thank you for this comprehensive and generous review. I often counsel families before an operation for a traumatic injury that I will have a series of treatment options which are progressively more invasive. My aim is to use the most minimal and least invasive surgical treatment to guarantee the optimal outcome. If I can get away with doing less for a particular fracture and just apply a good cast alone rather than plates or screws then I will choose the lesser option. But only if it does not risk compromising the final outcome. A good surgeon should have all techniques at his disposal but be able to select the least invasive treatment method that will ensure the best outcome.

Often patients and families can be a bit aggrieved when my clinic is running late. But I have a simple principle - I give as much time to a case as it requires without rushing. I often do end up apologising to patients when I am late but always assure them that they will have a thorough evaluation and treatment discussion without time constraints.

A big part of being a good kids orthopaedic surgeon is simply not operating on any child that can be optimally managed without surgery in a cast or splint. Non-operative management of common fractures is in itself a skill.

Thank you for the kind feedback. Often communication assumes a greater part of treatment than the treatment itself. Valuing and responding to patient concerns should always be at the forefront of care no matter how simple the clinical problem may seem in the overal scope of your practice.

Thank you for this most generous of reviews. I don't think I can live up to this praise. It does reaffirm my belied that the primary obligation of a physician is not to cure but to care. Many thanks and I will continue striving to live up to this expectation with my patients who above all other things, place their trust in me.
