My appointment with Prof. Paleri was arranged quickly which was greatly appreciated. Prof. Paleri carefully explained my diagnosis and the radical surgery needed for an optimum management plan. He was sensitive and kind about my reluctance over this course of action, and was very helpful in answering my questions. He readily agreed to my request to explore the oncology route and arranged for me to see Prof. Harrington. I am still in quite a state of shock about my cancer diagnosis and seeing Prof. Paleri gave me great confidence and reassurance about being "in the arms" of the Marsden (as a friend of mine put it). I felt whatever decision I made, surgical or non-surgical, I could not receive better care than through the Marsden. It has helped me enormously and I will recommend others in my position to do the same - to get in touch with the Royal Marsden as soon as possible.

From my initial consultation with Professor Paleri and recent biopsy I have always been made fully aware of where I stand with regard to my condition and further treatment. I went to Vin on a recommendation, having seen two other endocrinologists/surgeons over the course of 6 years who I never felt were treating my condition with great care. Prof Paleri carried out an operation to remove a tumour from my neck. I met with him a few times before the operation and found him to be very approachable and clear, which put me at ease. I also appreciated his honesty in opinions/predictions re my recovery trajectory.

If you could just explain how deep the tube was going as I was expecting it to go all the way down my throat. I had no need to feel anxious as this was not the case. It would be best if this explained before . Everything else was well explained
