Prof Field initially undertook revision surgery following problems with a total hip replacement with another surgeon and was very supportive, explaining clearly the options available to me from the start. I then went to him again when I needed total hip replacement of the other hip joint. Again the processes and options were explained. The anterior approach used this time was far less painful post surgery and follow up care was good. I would recommend Prof Field for hip issues and in fact have recently done so to a friend with problems. I believe he is a true expert in his area.

From the first consultation 19.12.18, I felt re-assured, very well informed and in expert hands. I came armed with a list of questions, which were comprehensibly answered in language I could understand. I owe a great debt of gratitude to Professor Field, as I feel he worked a miracle. I am now completely pain free after my right hip replacement, whereas I was in agony beforehand. I now lead a normal healthy life.

I was given much reassurance and confidence prior to the operation. Professor Field provided me with the information and advice to enable me to make the necessary decisions and approach the operation with confidence. He saw me the day following the operation and again at intervals when he and his team continued to provide the support and encouragement I needed. I made a very good recovery.

Prof.Field was keen to ensure I understood all the possible ramifications of the treatment he recommended which was a total hip replacement as this would be the only way to alleviate my intense pain and bad limp. Within less than five hours of going into surgery I was able to walk into the bathroom with the aid of one walking stick. I was discharged twenty hours after surgery having walked along the hospital corridor and up and down stairs using only walking sticks. I was able to walk round the golf course and play golf without discomfort after ten weeks. The anterior groin crease approach has left me with minimal scarring.

Seeing the specialist was fine but the hour and a half wait is a joke!
I am very sorry that you were made to wait so long for your appointment. I would love to keep my clinics to time. I do try terribly hard to keep to the schedule and already provide longer appointment slots than almost all my colleagues. Unfortunately some patients get held up waiting for X-rays and sometimes patients have more questions than I can answer in the allocated time. If I had a bell that told people that it was now somebody else's time slot, I might get through the clinics on schedule but suspect that I would upset a lot of people. My aim is to give every patient the attention they need and I can only apologise that you were made to wait so long for your appointment.
