Professor Emberton is an excellent physician. He saved me from an aggressive Prostate cancer 16 years ago. I still refer to him for a yearly check up even though I left the UK several years ago. I strongly recommend him for any medical needs that he provides.

Professor Emberton correctly identified that I was a good candidate for HIFU. History has shown that he was correct. Hence I was able to avoid a prostatectomy that 2 other leading urologists had recommended. He has been highly responsive to communications as my PSA has varied and recommended additional treatment as required. He has also achieved excellent results for several people I have recommended and has never demonstrated an eagerness for surgery unless necessary

I cannot rate Professor Mark Emberton more highly. I was first diagnosed with Prostate Cancer (Stage 2 Gleason 3+4) in June 2021, following a health screening. I had no symptoms but my PSA score was over 2.5. I had an MRI and biopsy which confirmed the presence of cancer. Based in Ireland, I was told I would have to have a prostatectomy. As I was 46 at the time, with a young family, I really did not want to take the risks and infertility associated with a prostatectomy. However, the doctor in Ireland said I had no option. I am a great believer in science and this pushed me into researching all options available internationally. This led me to Mark and his pioneering work in focal therapy, in particular nanoknife. I will always remember my first zoom call with Mark where the first words he said to myself and my wife were "I just want to say I am sorry that you are having to go through all of this but I do believe that I can help you." This was a level of empathy that I had not witnessed in any other doctor. The diagnosis I had received from Ireland showed 3 distinct cancers on my prostate. Mark said he thought that looked unusual and questioned the quality of the scan received in Ireland. Thus, prior to his recommending any procedure, I had another MRI as well as a PSMA in London which were of much higher quality than the MRI received from Ireland. As Mark had suspected, the doctor in Ireland had incorrectly identified 3 cancers. There was, in fact only 1 cancer. A single 5mm lesion. With this accurate diagnosis, Mark recommended Nanoknife. I had the procedure in November 2021 at the King Edward hospital. The staff could not have been nicer and it was all done in a day. The procedure took place on the Friday and I had to wear a catheter for 3 days which was probably the worst part of the whole thing! Although I had imagined it would be worse than it was. This was removed on the Tuesday by the ever attentive nurse Michael. I had an MRI a couple of days later which showed complete “ablation” of the tumour. 3 months later I had a PSA which registered 0.9 and then, 3 months after that, I had an additional PSA which registered 0.6. I had mentioned above that one of the issues the made me avoid the prostatectomy was the infertility. Nanoknife significantly lowers the risk of this and myself and my wife were delighted to find out in August 2022 that she was pregnant with our third child! In December 2022, I travelled again to London to have MRI and PSMA scans and to meet with Mark for my 12 month follow up. Mark confirmed that there was no evidence of any cancer inside or outside the prostate and I was officially in remission. Obviously I was ecstatic to receive this news. Receiving a cancer diagnosis was terrifying. As a husband and father of a young family, it shakes you to your core. Meeting Mark not only eased the psychological burden of this diagnosis but he also fixed the problem. Because of Marks amazing work, it almost feels like it never happened. Mark is one of those rare human beings who truly wants to do good for others. I cannot thank him enough, as well as his nurse Michael and secretary Yasmine, for all of the help and support they provided to us during this period. And if you are reading this review, and have had a prostate cancer diagnosis, please do yourself a favour and reach out to Mark. You will not regret it.
