Prof Mokbel was very professional but I felt lacked some warmth/empathy and showing understanding during what for me is/was a very scary time. Things felt rather matter of fact and impersonal.

I cannot fully put into words what an amazing, talented and highly regarded breast cancer specialist Professor Kefah Mokbel is. “At first I was afraid, I was petrified” sang Gloria Gaynor ( “I will survive “ ). Well so was I when I found out that I had breast cancer. But then along came Professor Mokbel. He was recommended to me by a friend who said “He is simply the best, an amazing surgeon and put your faith in his as a specialist”. My friend was absolutely correct . From my first encounter with Professor Mokbel , when he answered all my questions (and there were many of them!) I knew I was in safe hands. I was still afraid but no longer petrified as he explained as precisely as he could what I had, and what he was going to do: what the results of the tests I had had done so far revealed, what future tests could and would be done, what the surgery would involve and the chances of its success. He was reassuring throughout the whole process and I knew I was in the best hands possible. Professor Mokbel is an absolutely superb surgeon as was evident after my surgery had taken place. I had a tumour the size of a golf ball deeply embedded in my chest wall (upper quarter of my left breast) .The surgeon was difficult due to the position of the tumour . The tumour was removed successfully with very little cosmetic collateral damage. Professor Mokbel took the time and care to carry out reconstruction at the same time as removing the tumour and the result is truly amazing. I feel very honoured, humbled and exceptionally grateful that I am under the care of this amazing man and in the words of Tina Turner “He is simply the best and better than all the rest”. For all that you have done for me to date, Professor Mokbel, I thank you from the bottom of my heart and I am very blessed to be under your care.
