Prior to his current posts, Professor Rubino held the position of Director of the Diabetes Surgery Centre and as Chief of Gastrointestinal Metabolic Surgery at the New York Presbyterian Hospital and the Weill Cornell Medical College, New York. He later moved to the UK and began his consultancy post at King's College Hospital in 2013.
In his current posts, he regularly carries out laparoscopic bariatric, metabolic and upper digestive surgery, including: gastric sleeve surgery, gastric banding, gastric bypass surgery and novel surgical procedures.
Professor Rubino's research, teaching and practice of bariatric surgery, metabolic surgery and diabetes is recognised internationally. He has published over 100 papers in renowned scientific journals and regularly presents his work at national and international meetings. He has also led conferences, including the Diabetes Surgery Summit, an internationally recognised conference endorsed by 47 societies, which he both organised and co-directed.

I’ve received exceptional care from Professor Rubino, with support from his practice manager Nina. The different WLS options were explained and discussed in great detail. We then covered extensive pre-op testing, discussed the results at length and considered my options. We then chose a procedure together after reviewing the data, and covered all the pros/cons and risks. Professor Rubino has impeccable credentials, along with exceptional surgical skills and bedside manner. He took the time to listen, and answer all of my myriad of questions.
