Mr Stephen Blair is a Consultant Varicose Vein Surgeon with over 35 years of experience in pioneering innovative techniques for treating varicose veins and their complications. He also has an extensive portfolio of over 60 publications and presentations on the subject.
In 1988, Mr Blair introduced the groundbreaking 4-layer bandage, a revolutionary treatment for venous ulcers that remains the gold standard over 30 years later. In 1994, he innovated sequential avulsions as an alternative to stripping, significantly reducing surgical pain, with 35% of patients reporting no need for pain relief, not even requiring a paracetamol post-surgery.
Beginning in 2000, Mr Blair conducted early research into endovenous treatments, such as the V clip, later transitioning to thermal methods like Laser. However, due to the associated pain and complications, he discontinued the use of Laser. In 2010, he adopted ClariVein ablation and developed a protocol, enabling patients to undergo a virtually pain-free procedure lasting 30 minutes. Patients can drive home immediately and resume normal activities. Mr Blair is a leading advocate of this technique in the UK.
In 2018, Mr Blair established the Liverpool Varicose Veins Clinic, dedicated to providing high-quality specialist care at an affordable cost. I wish I'd found Stephen years. Not only is he incredibly cheap for the service he provides (and on a different level compared to other consultants/specialists locally - believe me, I did my research) he has changed my legs and life for the better. I had had surgery abroad and was quite a complex case. He restored what had been done wrong effortlessly and redid what should have been done in the first place. Appointments are quick and he is professional, puts you at ease, knowledgeable and friendly. It's a pleasure to visit his surgery and I cannot recommend him highly enough. I would also recommend Pam who works alongside him to get rid of any thread or non surgical veins. I will actually miss visiting them now that my procedure is done as they are such good company. Finally, I'd like to say that if you are on the fence about getting this procedure you should absolutely go for it with Stephen as he is completely patient-centric and is interested in his patient (diffusing any awkwardness or embarrassment easily) rather than making a profit. I cannot say enough good things about his nor his results. My legs look completely different and I'm not even fully healed. I went for this procedure for medical as well as aesthetic purposes and feel as though Stephen has given me a better quality of life as well as health.

Mr Steven Blair is (obviously) a very experienced surgeon. His reviews speak for themselves! His gentle manner and thorough consultation, left me confident and relaxed about proceeding with the ClariVein ablation and Foam sclerotherapy - on my left leg. Both treatments and recovery were painless, and surprisingly easy! No more throbbing, swelling and unbearably itchy!! eczema. Hiking and prolonged sitting/ standing is now unremarkable again. Well worth doing!

Mr Blair was very friendly and treated me like a unique patient. He was very thorough explaining the process and recovery and gave me plenty of time for questions. He was gentle with the procedure and paid attention to how I was doing during it. His follow up was very thorough and he made it an enjoyable experience.
