Mr Richard Hartley is a highly experienced consultant trauma and orthopaedic surgeon who works with the Peterborough and Stamford Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust at Peterborough City Hospital, and Stamford and Rutland Hospital. He holds private consultations at Ramsay Fitzwilliam Hospital. Mr Hartley has a number of clinical interests including hip surgery, osteoarthritis and soft tissue injuries and performs around 200 joint replacements and 50 ACL (anterior cruciate ligament) reconstructions each year. Mr Hartley has a sub-specialist interest in knee surgery, particularly in younger, active patients, and he performs procedures such as primary and revision knee replacement, knee ligament reconstruction, meniscal surgery, and articular cartilage surgery.
Mr Hartley graduated with his BM BS from the University of Nottingham in 1994 before working in Queen's Medical Centre. He then lectured in Human Anatomy at the university before undertaking his further surgical training and achieving a fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh (FRCSEd) in 1999. Following this, he took further training in trauma and orthopaedics and achieved his specialty certificate in trauma and orthopaedics before completing another fellowship at the renowned Wrightington Hospital.
Mr Hartley is actively involved in research and has had his work published in numerous orthopaedic journals.
