I had the Holep operation in July 2022. Prior to then I felt the need to urinate on a regular basis during the day as I was not emptying my bladder adequately. I have an enlarged bladder and a slightly enlarged prostate. The situation was so bad I had to use a catheter for a period of about 6 months, up to 4 times a day and because of this I picked up several water infections which made me very unwell. It was decided that the Holep operation would be best for me in order to make the prostate tube wider than a normal operation and it has been a big success. Mr Aho and his staff were brilliant throughout my one night stay and Mr Aho's follow ups have been excellent. I have not used a catheter since the operation, no water infections and I no longer have the sudden urge to urinate. The flow is as good as it has been for many years and I can honestly say that my life is so much better through having the operation and I would thoroughly recommend it and Mr Aho.

My experience with Mr Aho was excellent and I am more than happy to recommend him to others. I went to see Mr Aho after being admitted to A&E with acute urinary retention and having to have a catheter fitted due to enlarged prostrate. Although I am an active 62 year old (running, swimming, cycling, Pilates, HIIT, boxing, Tai Chi) I had been managing the condition for a couple of years. Mr Aho performed HOLEP. The procedure was painless and I left the hospital without a catheter. After 2 weeks I was back doing my regular fitness regime. I now have no urinary problems at all and feel like a 30 year old in that respect. With hindsight I wish I had gone to see Mr Aho well before it got to an acute stage.

I cannot speak highly enough about the care and attention given to me by Mr Aho. From my initial telephone consultation with him, to the continuing interactions with him and his team at the Princess Grace Hospital I was impressed with their excellent care. Mr Aho was proffessionly informative about my procedure and its possible outcomes while at all times maintaining a friendy, approchable, calming and patient manner. Never having previously had an operation requiring a general anaesthetic, he readily answered all my questions easing my concerns. He took time to explain any procedures and ensured I fully understood them. At no point did Mr Aho display any signs of impatience that any of my questions or concerns were not significant or of value.

Everything went perfectly thanks to Mr Aho's excellent skill and care. I would highly recommend Mr Aho.

I wouldn't describe it as a pleasant experience but, having been told that I would have to wait 2 years on the NHS, it was certainly a relief. Everything was done very professionally.

Choosing Mr Aho was one of the best decisions I have made. Mr Aho removed 142gms of tissue from my very large 220gm prostate. Operated on at 11am I was discharged, catheter free, at 7pm on the same day. Some normal discomfort and bleeding in the first week, completely continent after two weeks, and back to normal after 4 weeks. Eight months on I rarely give my prostate a second thought. He is such a nice man and liked and highly respected by the nursing staff at the Princess Grace Hospital in London. His explanations pre-op and support post-op could not be bettered. It is worth mentioning that the staff and facilities at The Princess Grace Hospital were excellent.

Mr Aho has a very pleasant personality. You always feel that he has time to discuss the medical issues and is very clear in his explantions.

Dr Tev provided an excellent service from start to finish. His explanation before the HoLEP operation was clear, unhurried and reassuring, and the procedure happened exactly as he described. Afterwards he provided feedback before I left hospital and again through 2 follow up calls, and my recovery followed the path he had briefed. Overall I am delighted that I was referred to Dr Tev and I would wholeheartedly recommend him to anyone else contemplating an operation on their prostate.
