Mr Khazali was clear, empathetic, patient and approachable, but most importantly did a fantastic job of my complex surgery. This has been life-changing for me and I cannot thank him enough.

The whole team was very professional and took my concerns seriously. The nursing staff at the Lister were also fantastic.

It’s difficult to put into words the difference Mr Khazali has made to my life. Quite simply, he has given me a chance at living again. Before my surgery, I spent the last year in almost constant level 9 pain and was mostly bedbound. My weight continued to drop, I suffered terrible fatigue, and my white blood cell count was extremely low, leaving me vulnerable to every infection. I was also plagued by what I thought were endless UTIs. On top of all this, I had been gaslit by the medical system for over 25 years—told my pain was in my head or that nothing serious was wrong—while my health deteriorated to the point where I could barely function. I am now 12 weeks post-major surgery for stage IV deep infiltrating endometriosis, and the relief was almost instantaneous. I know this isn’t the case for everyone, but Mr Khazali was able to excise all of the endometriosis, which was far higher up than expected, and which had been silently sabotaging my health since my teenage years. Mr Khazali had been recommended to me as one of the finest endometriosis surgeons in the world, and I now understand why. Because of the complexity of this condition, only a very few surgeons have the skill to operate effectively and stop the pain it causes. And most surgeons who do operate, sadly, shouldn’t be. I was lucky enough to find one of the very best. He is not only an exceptional surgeon but also a wonderful human being—kind, compassionate, and sensitive. Both he, his secretary Tamasine, and my CNS nurse have been a true lifeline to me. Thanks to them, I finally feel free from a condition t...

I recently underwent laparoscopic surgery for endometriosis and fibroid removal, and I couldn’t be more grateful to have been referred to Mr Khazali. He is truly exceptional, calm, kind, and composed. He took the time to answer all my many questions with patience and clarity. His surgical skills are outstanding. I'm now one week post-op and experienced only mild discomfort for 2–3 days after the procedure, which is a testament to his expertise. His entire team is equally brilliant. I’m especially thankful to Dr Flo, Tamasine, and Emma for their constant reassurance, support, and guidance throughout the process. The staff and nurses at The Lister Hospital were also wonderful, knowledgeable, professional, and genuinely compassionate. I highly recommend Mr Khazali and his incredible team to anyone in need of expert and empathetic care for endometriosis.

I had a consultation with Mr. Khazali last month seeking a corrected salpingectomy, as my previous surgery was done poorly. I’ve already had two laparoscopies confirming a blocked tube, but Mr. Khazali insisted on a follow-up HyCoSy to confirm the presence or absence of fluid before proceeding with surgery. He referred me to the Lister Fertility Clinic, but I understood this to be a suggestion, not a mandatory next step. I was surprised that Mr. Khazali could not perform the HyCoSy himself given his expertise. Since I was already abroad at the optimal time in my cycle, I went ahead and did the HyCoSy at another well-rated clinic, costing me €480. The results confirmed fluid, validating the need for surgery. However, when I followed up, his PA refused to schedule a further appointment, saying I was supposed to go to Lister first. This was never clearly explained as a condition. Now I’m left in limbo after spending hundreds of euros on testing he requested, and I’m being denied the follow-up care I came to him for. What makes this worse is the lack of empathy. During the consultation, his PA expressed understanding for what I’d been through. But now, she has become cold and unhelpful, simply repeating that the referral process wasn’t followed, without offering a solution. I'm sharing my experience because I’ve been through enough physically and emotionally and expected more clarity and compassion from a specialist of Mr. Khazali’s caliber.
I am sorry to see that the fact my administrative team did not schedule a further appointment for you—because you had chosen not to follow the recommended plan—left you feeling frustrated, and that you felt the best way to address this was by posting negative reviews on my profiles across multiple platforms. I have not operated on you, nor have I seen you in person. This is not a review of surgical care or clinical outcome, and therefore does not fairly reflect the nature of my work. In your case, I recommended a structured and coordinated plan, which was clearly communicated and documented in my letter to you. I always advocate for a multidisciplinary approach—particularly in complex cases. These situations require input from experienced colleagues from other specialties and careful sequencing of investigations to ensure that decisions are made with the fullest and most accurate information. For international patients, we take particular care to support the additional challenges around logistics and coordination. My administrative team is highly experienced in this, and I am proud to work with them. The colleague you refer to in your review is someone I have worked with closely for many years. She is kind, thoughtful, and deeply committed to patient care. I very frequently receive positive feedback from other patients about how compassionate and supportive she is. I do not believe she was unempathetic or dismissive; rather, she was doing her best to ensure that the appropriate clinical pathway was followed and wanted to endure you don’t pay for another consultation unnecessarily. When investigations are carried out independently, particularly outside the recommended setting or healthcare system, we must take the time to reassess and ensure alignment before proceeding. This is not intended to create delay or difficulty—it is a necessary safeguard to protect patient safety and ensure high-quality care. I am sorry that this experience led to frustration, but I believe the actions taken by my admin team were appropriate and responsible. Warm regards, Mr Shaheen Khazali

I’m now two months post surgery with Mr Khazali, and I’m so grateful to have found him and his team. As many other reviews mention, he’s not only a renowned surgeon but also a great listener and a leader in the field of endometriosis. I chose to go ahead with surgery because I had complete trust in him, and the fact that he requested an MRI beforehand reassured me even more — it showed how carefully he approached the procedure. Something that I think maybe doesn’t get highlighted enough in reviews is just how amazing his whole team is and what a difference that makes. I’ve been in touch with Emma and Tamasine in his office many times to make appointments, reschedule surgery, ask about sick notes, etc. They’ve always been kind, helpful, and quick to respond to whatever I needed. Within hospital his assistant Flo made me feel really comfortable during prep for surgery and afterwards spent extra time going into detail about what had been found. She never made me feel rushed and answered all of my questions compassionately. After I was discharged, I was connected with Leandri, the endometriosis specialist nurse on Mr Khazali’s team, who was incredibly supportive and guided me through both the physical and the mental health side of recovery. Being able to message her with any concerns during that first week at home made such a difference in giving me peace of mind. I have absolutely no doubt I made the right choice in going with Mr Khazali and his team. In my view they’re a real beacon of hope in the endometriosis community.

Mr Khazali and his team were all extremely reassuring, approachable and available for any questions or concerns I had from first consultation to post surgery. A thoroughly positive experience.

I am writing to formally share my experience with Mr. Shaheen Khazali following my surgery under his care. Unfortunately, my experience has been deeply disappointing, and I feel compelled to highlight the issues I encountered in the hope of preventing others from going through a similar ordeal. Following the surgery, I reached out to Mr. Khazali both via email and in person, expressing my concerns that my symptoms had not improved. In fact, my pain had significantly worsened, affecting my kidneys, bladder, bowels, and pelvis. Despite my repeated efforts to communicate this, I was met with a dismissive attitude or never answered. Rather than acknowledging my concerns and investigating further, he disregarded my symptoms, leaving me to manage debilitating pain without proper support. It has since become evident that he failed to properly address the extent of my endometriosis. The condition was missed on a larger scale during surgery, and as a result, I now suffer from ongoing bowel issues and daily pain. Shockingly, my organs are now fused together post-surgery, which has only exacerbated my suffering. Mr. Khazali presents himself as an endometriosis specialist, yet my experience suggests otherwise. A true specialist would prioritise patient care, listen to their concerns, and ensure thorough treatment. Instead, I was left feeling ignored, dismissed, and in a significantly worse condition than before. I strongly caution others to think carefully before seeking treatment from Mr. Khazali. Endometriosis patients deserve comprehensive care, understanding, and expertise- no...
