I was first referred to Mr Sala about 20 years ago following a serious dislocation of my left shoulder following which was an increasing inability to mobilise it. Mr Sala was measured in his advice preferring to follow some intensive Physiotherapy in the first instance. Although this relieved some of the symptoms, he recommended keyhole surgery which was performed shortly afterwards, followed by immediate mobilisation and further Physiotherapy. I have never had a problem with it since. In 2015, he undertook similar surgery on my right shoulder and in both cases, I would say that that both shoulders are as good as they ever were in my youth. More recently he has been advising me on a case of tennis elbow and a very painful case with soft tissue on my right knee, due perhaps to walking up and down steep mountains. He is highly knowledgeable and I am pleased that my GP initially referred me to him.

Dr Sala is simply brilliant

Matthew Sala has now performed rotator cuff repairs on both of my shoulders, the first some 2 years ago and the second very recently. On both occasions, from initial consultation, to arranging imaging , the subsequent diagnosis leading to corrective surgery and post-operative follow-up assessment Mr Sala has afforded exceptional care, professionalism and patience throughout. It is no surprise to me the results have been amazing. I feel very lucky to have been referred to him. Matthew Sala is both an exceptional surgeon and extremely likeable.

Mr Sala is an excellent surgeon and his aftercare goes beyond what is expected of a surgeon. He explains everything so well, he is also interested in the patients activities ie sporting interests. Mr Sala is an excellent role model in his field, we need more Mr Sala’s.

I was immediately put at ease by the manner of questioning and indeed Mr Sala listening to my responses. Notes were taken and comments on my responses were relevant. Explanation of options was comprehensive and not limited to any one process giving the feeling of me being in control of the process but being steered by the 'expert'. In the light of the current Covid situation caveats around isolation protocols and overall safety were also clearly explained. The process, after the consultation, including projected cost and logistics was also clearly outlined culminating with the receipt of the detailed letter. Very professional throughout. Thank you

Amazingly thorough and detailed in his explanation and approach. No aspect of my operation left to chance (including planning my post-op physio, follow up, sling type, etc). I've had two separate procedures with Matthew. Results over and above what I was expecting. My shoulder is almost good as new. Highly recommended.
