Mr Htwe Zaw is a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon with specialist interests in foot and ankle conditions, lower limb trauma and sports injuries. He currently works in the private sector at BMI The Clementine Hospital and BMI Bishops Wood Hospital.
Mr Zaw qualified in Medicine in 1997 from King's College London, before completing specialist fellowship training at Guy's & St Thomas' Hospital, The Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital and Basingstoke & North Hampshire Hospital. Furthermore, he completed a fellowship at the prestigious Dresden University Hospital in Germany. This involved treating all types of major trauma, as well as learning the latest techniques in managing complex foot and ankle fractures and sports injuries. He also attended foot & ankle units in France and The Netherlands to develop his interest in arthroscopic surgery and sports injuries.
Mr Zaw was appointed as a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon at The Hillingdon and Mount Vernon NHS Hospitals in 2012, where he established a new foot and ankle service for people in the local region. The foot and ankle unit offers a comprehensive range of treatments with combined care involving physiotherapists, podiatrists, orthotists and plaster technicians. Mr Zaw moved into the private sector in 2013 and has developed a busy practice. He can perform arthroscopic (keyhole) surgery, bunion surgery, treatment of foot and ankle arthritis (including cartilage regeneration procedures), flatfoot and high arch surgery, correction of lesser toe deformities, ligament and tendon reconstruction, surgery in neurological and rheumatoid patients and many more. He also provides shockwave therapy for plantar fasciitis and Achilles tendon problems.
Away from his clinical practise, Mr Zaw is closely involved in training junior surgeons and is a faculty member for the Imperial FRCS viva course and External Fixator course in London. He also trains physiotherapists in both the NHS and private sector, as well as General Practitioners. He is well published in international journals and orthopaedic textbooks.
In his spare time Mr Zaw is often found on the golf course searching for his golf ball or spending time with his family.

Mr Zaw corrected and repaired my ankle with extreme care and expertise. He always explained clearly, in a very friendly manner, what he would have to do to achieve, what I consider to be, a magnificent result.

Mr Zaw was the most incredible person to deal with. He explained everything in such detail and with such enthusiasm and knowledge, I can only say that he made me feel so safe and lucky to be in his care. If I could give him a million stars I would. Three months after the enormous surgery I had under his care and I’m ready to take the world on again. He has literally given me my life back again. What a man. What a surgeon. What an experience. I feel very lucky and blessed. Thank you Mr Zaw. Plus his secretary Angie was extremely brilliant as well. A great team. Thank you.

Following my unsuccessful hammer toe surgery previously done by another surgeon, Mr Zaw did not have an easy job to correct all the mistakes that has accrued in my initial (first) surgery. I needed two more surgeries, but Mr Zaw has done a brilliant job! He is extremely knowledgeable, and prior to my surgery he explained to me the whole procedure, risks and possible complications, and after treatment. Mr Zaw is also very friendly and always put me at ease. I would highly recommend Mr Zaw, you can turn to him with absolute confidence! Mr Zaw, thank you for everything you've done for me, my feet are like new again!

From my first consultation right through to after surgery care, Mr Zaw explained everything in detail regarding Morten's Neuroma surgery. His manner was exemplary taking time to talk through the processes. I had an excision on my left foot 3/4 webspace neuromato to remove the immense pain of Mortons neuroma in my left foot. It was extremely successful with full pain relief and recovery without complications, Mr Zaw is simply the very best orthopaedic surgeon out there, I can now walk pain free on my feet and It is only week 3 after my surgery. Thank you so very much!
