About

Miss Victoria Deans is a dedicated hand and wrist surgery consultant, and has worked in the NHS for the last 20 years.

Miss Deans graduated from the University of Leicester in 2004. She subsequently completed her Membership degree(MRCS) in 2007 and Fellowship degree(FRCS) in 2013 with the Royal College of Surgeons. In addition to her surgical qualifications, she pursued a Master of Science (MSc) degree in orthopaedic surgery in 2011, through the University of Warwick.

Miss Deans received an educational bursary award from The Royal College of Surgeons of England in 2012. From 2014 to 2015, she completed an advanced training programme in hand and wrist surgery in Manchester, which is recognised by the British Society for Surgery of the Hand (BSSH) as one of the premier hand surgery training programs. During this fellowship, she had the opportunity to work alongside three highly experienced hand and wrist surgery consultants, one of whom was the president of the BSSH at the time. As part of her commitment to her specialty, she performs over 500 hand and wrist surgery operations each year, as documented in her surgical logbook.

Miss Deans also actively participates in research to advance her field. She frequently attends the scientific meetings of the BSSH to stay updated on the latest techniques and research. Her systematic review of the evidence regarding the surgical treatment of STT joint wrist arthritis was published in The Journal of Hand Surgery (AP volume) in October 2017, and she presented this research at the BSSH scientific meeting in Bath.

In addition to her clinical work and research contributions, Miss Deans is involved in teaching and training. She also runs a specialised clinic at Calderdale Royal Hospital (CRH) alongside several expert physiotherapists.
