Mr Al-Dadah operated on my knee performing a total synovectomy just over a year ago. I had been in considerable pain for about a year and a half and was taking anti rheumatic drugs and repeat prescriptions of steroids that were doing little good. In fact by the time I saw Mr Al-Dadah my leg was bent into an L shape and I was unable to walk properly, drive or even go to work. Mr Al-Dadah took a lot of care in ascertaining exactly what was wrong with me and explained the procedure and outcomes clearly. As soon as the operation was over, and I was in the recovery room he reassured me it had been a resounding success! He visited the ward where I was a couple of hours later and explained what he’d been able to do for me so I was extremely reassured. The recovery wasn’t nearly as painful as I’d feared. I only took the painkillers provided for a day and a half as I felt discomfort rather than pain. After about ten days the stitches came out and I could barely see any scarring at all. The physio exercises were time consuming but I did every single one every day. A year on, I am doing two spin classes a week, two body pump classes and at least one other gym class depending on my schedule. I go for long walks; I climb up and down stairs with no pain and I’m no longer taking large quantities of drugs. I’m now down to one mild drug a day which I’m hoping to come off soon. Don’t hesitate about choosing surgery with Mr Al-Dadah - his thorough investigation to begin with meant I knew he wouldn’t jump into something if he didn’t think I would benefit; his friendly and reassuring manner was very welcome when I was in so much pain and his surgical skill has literally given me my life back.

After a full rupture of my quadricep tendon, I required surgery to facilitate the repair. Having spoken to four other specialist knee surgeons (privately and through NHS) prior to a consultation with Mr Al-Dadah, the choice to go with him was a simple one. His relaxed optimism and understated confidence was exactly what I needed to reframe a very challenging injury, both physically and psychologically. It made me realise how critical both his skill as a surgeon and his manner of communication were. The latter, had me leaving consultations in an upbeat frame of mind, an amazing achievement in the context of why I was meeting him. It is also of relevance he quickly picked up the specifics of the injury others had missed. The outcome of the surgery he performed has been optimal and I would recommend him without hesitation.

The consultant made me feel at ease during consultation and explained in detail the procedure for partial knee replacement. I had excellent recovery post operatively and the wound healed satisfactorily. I was able to walk without crutches within six weeks time..
