Explanation

I have been to visit Rick on several occasions over the last 6 years or so for treatment on troublesome elbows. I am an international golfer and my career has been plagued by "Golfers Elbow". Having tried acupuncture, ultrasound and numerous cortisone injections I was referred to see a surgeon with a view to operating on the left elbow 5 years ago. The surgeon could only give a 60% chance of success so at that point I was despairing. It was Christmas and I couldn't even hold a putter in my hands. I started doing some research on the internet and found "PRP injections", and that led me to Rick Seah as the nearest surgeon in this country practicing this procedure. I searched out his email address and wrote to him only half expecting a reply. Within an hour I received an email back from him saying he would be happy to meet and assess with a view to treatment. My first appointment was scheduled within days. Chatrooms on the internet filled me with trepidation about how painful it would be so when I saw Rick for my first session I was very nervous. I need not have been; Rick talked me through everything in fine detail, and then proceeded to perform dry needling whilst spinning my blood taken from the "good" elbow. Then for the injections, they were fine, much less painful than the dry needling. £ weeks later I had another session and it was between session 2 and 3 that things started to improve. By May I was back on the golf course and had no more problems until July 2017 when the same injury reared its ugly head again, this time accompanied by a mild case in the right medial epicondyle. This has been a longer haul as I tried to continue playing competitive golf through the treatment (not to be advised). Two lots of PRP last summer was not enough to heal and by the time the season was finished I had pain in 3 sites. Rick then suggested we try shock wave therapy instead which sadly did not cure the problem. 9 months on and no change so Rick suggested that I go onto a very low dose of medicine to try and calm the pain. After 6 months again really no improvement so I was referred back once more to the surgeon I had seen 5 years previously. Again he was reluctant to operate as so many sites were involved and he referred me back to Rick suggesting that as PRP injections had worked in the past I should try that again. So now I am half way through another course and thankfully things are starting to improve now. I have to say that Rick is extremely professional, efficient, and sympathetic to a sports persons ambitions as well as being realistic about their capabilities. I would, and have recommended his services to fellow sportsmen and women struggling with any sort of sports related tendon injury. Having tried all other treatments Rick is the only professional in whom I would place 100% trust that he will cure the problem.

Very thoughtful and caring, and really understands the need to get back to previous levels of specific sports (for me, athletics) ie beyond 'just' getting out of pain. Had a one-off set of steroid injections which really helped. Would highly recommend Dr Seah.
