I was brought to Dr. Petraco at Hammersmith Hospital while having a STEMI heart attack. As with any heart attack, every minute is important but with a STEMI heart attack, there is a complete 100% blockage in one artery. In order to minimize lasting damage to the heart muscle, elapsed time to clearing the blockage is critical. Dr. Petraco and his colleagues efficiently, quickly and compassionately received me into Hammersmith Hospital and conducted the necessary tests to understand what was happening in my heart. Once they knew the nature of the blockage, they opened up the artery and inserted 2 stents to keep the artery open. Before the process began Dr. Petraco explained what was going to happen. This allowed me to understand what was happening and relax my mind during the procedure. Because they acted so quickly and efficiently, I sustained no lasting damage to my heart. Today, thanks to the work of Dr. Petraco, I am privileged and so, SO grateful to be living a brilliant and beautiful life.
