Dr Rakesh Panchal is a consultant respiratory physician and honorary associate professor. He consults at Spire Leicester Hospital and Nuffield Health Leicester Hospital.

He earned his medical degree from the University of Leicester in 2003, graduating with honours and ranking first in the year. In recognition of his achievement, he was awarded the renowned Faculty of Medicine Gold Medal. In 2006, he became a member of the Royal College of Physicians.

Dr. Panchal received his respiratory medicine training at Glenfield Hospital. In 2010, he completed the unique Darzi Clinical Leadership Fellowship, resulting in a master's degree in Research Translational Management. His research into the detection and prevention of tuberculosis in the United Kingdom was published in the international journal Thorax. He has also spent time at the Global Tuberculosis Institute in New York, USA, and has presented at symposia in the United States, Europe, and the United Kingdom.

Dr. Panchal joined Glenfield Hospital in 2013 as a Consultant Respiratory Physician with a special interest in Interventional Pulmonology. He is a member of the Institute for Lung Health and serves as the lead physician for the busy pleural diseases and interventional pulmonology tertiary services, for which he has earned clinical excellence awards. He also runs a popular Interventional Pulmonology Fellowship that has taught people from all over the world.
