Dr. Hickey was always on time and never rushed through his examination. He explained his initial diagnosis clearly and in a manner that I could understand. He quickly arranged and performed a biopsy so that the results could be passed to a haematologist. His actions reduced the time required for me to transfer to a consultant in the relevant field. Dr. Hickey also checked to ensure that the biopsy results were passed on and that I had suffered no infections and had healed satisfactorily.

My first consultation with Dr Hickey was over the telephone after I had sent him some photos of moles/lesions I wanted to check. These had been brought to my attention via the app SkinVision. From my first conversation, Dr Hickey took the time (he kindly phoned on the weekend) to discuss each lesion I was concerned with. It was discussed that one mole/lesion would need evaluating in theatre with the possibility of being removed. The surgery performed by Dr Hickey was painless and relaxed. I enjoyed chatting to Dr Hickey during my surgery which was performed under local anaesthetic. I felt so comfortable with the procedure and the explanation of why I was having the mole removed. Dr Hickey kindly gave out contact numbers if I had any problems with the wound over the following days and put my mind at ease with his calm and reassuring manner. I would highly recommend him. His secretary who organised the initial consultation and subsequent email/telephone conversations is caring, helpful and very efficient. Nothing is too much trouble which really impressed myself and my husband through the whole process. Five stars!

Dr Hickey was very friendly and quickly made me feel at ease during my initial consultation and subsequent procedure. The explanations of my case were clear and helpful. In addition his secretary Caroline Pile was always extremely supportive. Overall a positive experience with a good outcome.

I cannot fault Dr Hickey's treatment requiring the removal of a potential Melanoma lesion from my shoulder. He gave an excellent explanation of the recommended treatment beforehand, and had a very re-assuring and friendly manner throughout the operation. The operation itself was entirely painless, with virtually no discomfort afterwards. The wound healed within 2 weeks, leaving virtually no visible scar.

I was very pleased to meet Dr Hickey and the initial consultation was very informative. I was give choices of treatment but Dr Hickey recommended which choice he considered I should go for and as he’s the expert I was guided by what he said. I was very pleased with the results and was glad I followed his advice.

Throughout my experience I have always found Dr Hickey extremely pleasant and approachable. Whether it was through a telephone consultation, a face to face appointment or, in particular, during the operation he was very professional and reassuring, whilst remaining human. This gave one much confidence in his ability and this quality was particularly reassuring during the operation as it had to be carried out close to one of my eyes. He was also meticulous in keeping both myself and my doctor informed thoughout the experience and it all meant the who;e procedure was as stress free as possible. My only regret is that due to Covid19 I was not able to shake his hand when I thanked him!
