About

Ahilan Kailaya-Vasan is a consultant neurosurgeon at King’s College Hospital, London, and a fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons. Mr. Kailaya-Vasan is a member of the London International Patient Services (LIPS).

Mr. Kailaya-Vasan’s areas of expertise span cranial and spinal neurosurgery, with a special interest in complex neurovascular conditions (including aneurysms, AVMs, fistulae, cavernomas, neurovascular compressive syndromes and Moya Moya disease). His experience in complex spine enables a unique approach to complex neurovascular disease affecting the spine as well as conditions such as back and neck pain.

Mr. Kailaya-Vasan obtained his medical degree from University College London and undertook his higher neurosurgical training in Sheffield and London. His training culminated in the Royal College of Surgeons accredited King’s Neurovascular Fellowship.

Alongside his clinical work, he is responsible for the training and education of future neurosurgeons. He is currently the Training Programme Director for Neurosurgery in South London, co-director of the King’s Neurovascular Fellowship and supports the training of the Royal College of accredited King’s College Hospital Complex Spine Fellow. His research interests include both neurovascular and spinal pathology and his role as co-lead of the King’s NeuroLab blends his passions for training and research.

Mr. Kailaya-Vasan is focussed on providing his patients with a clear explanation of their neurosurgical condition and management options. He works closely with a multidisciplinary team including interventional neuro-radiologists, neurologists, neuro-anaesthetists, nurse specialists, physiotherapists, and pain specialists to achieve the best outcomes for his patients.
