I had spine decompression surgery with the insertion of a dynamic stabilisation device (Coflex) in June 2023 at the London Spine Unit to treat my facet joint degeneration and sciatica pain. The surgery has changed my life! I have little pain now, just 2 months after the op, and it continues to fade. The pre-op, op and post-op care at the Unit is fantastic, and Mr Mo Akmal and his team are just wonderful. They are caring, skilled, friendly and patient, and the quality of care from start to finish is superb. I would wholeheartedly recommend the Unit to anyone suffering with the agony of back pain and sciatica. I was nervous about the operation beforehand, but I had no need to be. The anaesthesia is wonderful - no fuzziness or nausea on waking up, and the pain management post-op is excellent.
