About Blackheath Brain Injury Rehabilitation Centre

The Blackheath Brain Injury Therapy Centre in South East London has expertise in the treatment of individuals suffering from physical and cognitive disabilities, as well as neuropsychiatric problems, as a consequence of a brain injury or another neurological condition. The centre provides assessment, rehabilitation, support, and care for adults over 18 years who have suffered an acquired brain injury or who have other complex neurological disorders. In addition, those detained under the Mental Health Act or under a DoLS order may also be treated at the centre.

There are 34 beds at the centre which are split over two wards, along with an accessible therapy kitchen, a gymnasium, a multi-faith room, and a hydrotherapy pool. There is also leisure and recreational equipment available for service users, as well as access to other external specialist facilities such as seating and assistive technology.

The Blackheath team is led by Dr Stefania Bruno, consultant neuropsychiatrist and medical director, and consists of qualified nurses, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, speech and language therapists, clinical psychologists, and social workers. My sister has made amazing progress in the short time she has been with you. So much better than hospital. Staff are kind and friendly. Sometimes it is hard for us to communicate with staff. I sometimes have to wait a long time before my call is returned when I have a query. However the staff do an amazing job and have made her feel heard.
