Staff on main desk when you enter the building (giving directions) were extremely unfriendly. There was no ‘hello’ or ‘how can I help?’ Not even a grunt… nothing. Staff on the check in at Clinic 1 we’re equally unfriendly - the same. And at Clinic 3 (where I accidentally went) didn’t even bother looking up… The hospital was clean apart from the downstairs canteen- the seating was old and vandalised. The staff were friendly.

I am writing to you to express my gratitude and appreciation in relation to the excellent care that I received from all of the staff at St Bartholomew’s Hospital when I was admitted on 23rd August 2023 to Ward 4c, 4th Floor KGV Building for a pleurodesis and a biopsy of my right lung. I cannot praise your staff enough for the excellent clinical care, kindness, skill, efficiency, and thoughtfulness. My pre-operation assessment on 21st August 2023 was excellent with particular thanks to nurses Nada, Sandra and Maria and Claire the radiographer who made me feel confident about the forthcoming procedure and were so kind to me. Ms Henrietta Wilson and her team were superb. They were re-assuring, compassionate, efficient and extremely skilful. The nurses and nursing assistants were also excellent, particularly Dave, Nikita, Mary, Mona, Maureen, Eleonor and Walter. Thank- you so much for making my first experience of being an inpatient one that I won’t forget due to the consideration and kindness shown to me. Please extend my appreciation to all of your staff. You must be very proud of having such excellent clinical teams.

Went into St Barts for Minimal Invasive Mitral Valve Surgery. The treatment I received could not have been better, the staff team worked so well together and came across as the ultimate professionals, working together to insure that patients were always the priority, and that the treatment and care given was the best possible. I can only say that I was most impressed and am very grateful to all concerned in my treatment and recovery.

Both on entry and exit I was waiting around 4 hours. This was really bad as I started feeling pain whilst waiting to leave in the exit lounge, where no one was monitoring me. I went to the staff base once and then again my wife had to ask for medication for me. I should not have been told to leave the bed until all medication that I needed to take was ready. This also meant I was left trying to getting home during rush hour traffic which took longer as a result.
