About Mr Tom Meade

Mr Tom Meade is a Functional Patterns Human Biomechanics Specialist and Chartered Physiotherapist, currently practicing at Functional Patterns Dublin. He holds an honours degree in Physiotherapy from the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland and is also a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist, combining clinical expertise with performance-based training.

Tom is the founder of his own Therapy and Sports Performance Clinic, where he has worked with a diverse range of clients. His experience spans from underage international footballers and professional MMA athletes to individuals managing complex neurological conditions and chronic pain, giving him a broad and adaptable approach to rehabilitation and performance.

In 2016, Tom was introduced to Functional Patterns, which reshaped his understanding of human movement and biomechanics. Since then, he has pursued extensive education within the system, including direct mentorship under Naudi Aguilar, ultimately qualifying as a Human Biomechanics Specialist (HBS).

Tom’s work centres on integrating physiotherapy with advanced movement principles to address the root causes of dysfunction. His approach aims to optimise posture, enhance performance, and support long-term physical resilience across all levels of ability.

Tom is a master of what he does. A registered physiotherapist and FP trainer make for a very unique skill set. He breaks down the issue to relatable and simple information. The approach of FP is different to most physiotherapists but he has the blend of skills to know which is appropriate for the client.

When I first came into Tomin FP Dublin , I was dealing with pain , poor performance in my sport and persistent injuries that numerous physios couldn’t heal . After my first few sessions I noticed a big reduction in pain levels to points where I now had none at all within a short period of time . My sporting performances have been consistently getting better and better the longer I have been doing FP . The more advanced I get within the training system I always know where and how I can improve with the help of the guys here and never feel like I’ve hit a plateau in my training which adds serious enjoyment to it . In my time doing FP I’ve never picked up one serious injury despite being a very active person . I put this down to the robustness I’ve built using FP . I have always gained great knowledge that I know immediately how to cure any little niggle very quickly if one ever pops up . Could recommend Tom enough , FP is a cheat code for people looking to excel at day to day activities or in sport .

I’ve been working with Tom for over a year and have had a great experience. He’s very knowledgeable and is able to break down complex topics so that they can be easily understood. He welcomes questions and is happy to tailor his advice to suit your sporting/lifestyle goals.

Tom is very clear and patient with his instructions. If anything is not clear he will take his time to explain until it’s understood. I can contact him anytime if needed and he will get back to me in his own time.

I've been lucky enough to work with a number of the practitioners at functional patterns Dublin. Their knowledge, professionalism, and attention to detail are second to none. I always felt supported and in expert hands throughout the process. I couldn’t recommend them highly enough to anyone dealing with pain, injury, or looking to move and feel better.

I have a fairly recent diagnosis of ms. One of main symptoms is muscle spasams. Tom is brilliant working around a spasam if I get one on the day.

Tom has seasoned experience in helping people the fitness industry and it really shows during 1:1 sessions. He always ensures that I understand why we cue an exercise a certain way, specific to my own needs in improving gait and posture. Tom’s guidance has helped me improve and/or eradicate a range of issues, such as knee valgus, anterior hip shift, hip dropping while walking and running to name a few. While I recommend using the online courses available on the Functional Patterns website, I cannot stress enough the importance of having a practitioner like Tom to help you on the journey in tandem with the self-learning.
