Mark Costello is a Counsellor and Psychotherapist based in Dublin, with a BA (Hons) in Counselling with Addiction, as well as diplomas in General Counselling and Human Resource Management. His humanistic approach is informed by extensive experience supporting individuals through bereavement, domestic abuse and other challenging life circumstances, providing a therapeutic space in which clients can explore their experiences and identify constructive ways forward.

With specialist interests in mental health, grief and addiction, Mark works with clients experiencing a range of emotional and personal difficulties. His training in counselling with addiction has given him particular expertise in supporting individuals affected by dependent or harmful substance misuse and addiction. As a Registered Counsellor and Psychotherapist and a member of the Addiction Counsellors of Ireland, he incorporates his specialist knowledge into a therapeutic approach that recognises the complex emotional, behavioural and relational factors that can contribute to substance misuse.

Mark also works with individuals, couples and families experiencing relationship difficulties, neurodiverse development, emotional disturbance and the effects of trauma. His practice is centred on listening, support and building a strong therapeutic relationship, while recognising that each person's circumstances and goals are different. He adapts his approach to the needs of each client, helping individuals and families process difficult experiences, develop greater understanding of their emotional responses and work towards meaningful change where possible, while developing ways to live more contentedly with circumstances that cannot be changed.

I attended counseling sessions with Mark to overcome substance addiction. Having spent many years in a cycle of dysfunctional behaviour and addiction, he helped me negotiate many emotional issues with empathy and understanding that put me at ease from the start. Through my time with Mark, he led me to build my self esteem and resilience while assisting me to use my own emotional resources to fall upon when needed. Mark always made himself available for sessions and treated me with dignity and respect regardless. Thankfully I'am now living a fulfilling life, beyond what I previouslythought possible. I will be forever grateful for his help, thanks again Mark.

Mark is very down to earth and calm, which makes it easier to approach a topic you would otherwise struggle to talk about. His work is indepth, commited and he provides a safe comfortable space each session.

I am a counsellor and psychotherapist myself but Mark really stood out amongst countless therapists I have visited in the past. His ability to create a safe empathic environment for clients and subtly empower the client to take agency of their presenting issues was profound. I laughed as much as I cried in sessions with both being equally as healing!

Mark was the therapist who worked best for me when I was struggling. He helped a huge amount with his calm nature and his patience. I highly recommend giving his services a try if you are going through something.
