Liz Halliday is an experienced midwife, tongue tie practitioner, and perinatal trauma therapist at The Resolution Clinic, where she brings a wealth of knowledge and dedication to supporting families throughout their maternity journeys.
After beginning her career in midwifery in 2006 as a mature student at Trinity College Dublin, Liz spent several years working within the Irish maternity services before discovering her passion for community-based care. Overthe last 11 years she has provided antenatal and postnatal care, supported home births, and assisted families in both hospital and home settings across Ireland's east coast and midlands.
Liz has supported hundreds of families, particularly those navigating previous maternity trauma, breastfeeding challenges, or difficulties accessing infant care. Her commitment to providing compassionate, informed care has led her to pursue additional qualifications in key areas, enabling her to offer a broad range of services tailored to the unique needs of each family.
As a trained tongue tie practitioner, Liz offers assessment, diagnosis, and release of tongue tie in infants up to one year of age. Her extensive training included a practical placement at The Fitzwilliam Clinic in Bray and a student clinic in Norfolk, England.
Driven by her desire to support families recovering from traumatic birth experiences, Liz trained in Birth Trauma Resolution therapy under psychotherapist Jenny Mullans in 2021. She now provides short, solution-focused courses to help clients resolve the emotional impact of perinatal trauma and reclaim their well-being.
In 2022, Liz further expanded her clinical skills by completing the Newborn and Infant Physical Examination (NIPE) practitioner programme at Teesside University. She offers this vital screening for babies up to four weeks of age, ensuring access to thorough postnatal care in a calm and comfortable environment.
Liz is also the first Professional Midwifery Advocate (PMA) in Ireland, having completed her training at the University of Chester in 2018. She provides confidential, supportive consultations for fellow midwives, including during reflective practice or following incidents and investigations.
Recognising the importance of addressing clinician well-being, Liz is additionally trained in Vicarious Trauma Therapy within a maternity setting. She works to support not only midwives but also other maternity professionals affected by secondary trauma, helping to improve both staff experiences and outcomes for families.
Liz continues to learn and grow, both personally and professionally, while maintaining a philosophy of invidualised, evidence based, and compassionate care.

Full review in previous section. Highly recommend Liz. Great experience
Our 2-week-old baby was struggling with breastfeeding after being born with a tongue tie. We were facing a further 4-week wait for an HSE appointment, so we were absolutely thrilled when we contacted Liz and she was able to arrange a home visit the very next day. Liz was brilliant — thorough, insightful and incredibly caring. She took the time to really get to know both Mum and Baby during the appointment and provided us with some very helpful advice. Before proceeding with the tongue tie release, Liz made sure that both Mum and Dad fully understood the procedure, as well as the potential risks and aftercare. This gave us great confidence and reassurance in moving forward with the release. We’re so grateful to Liz for her expertise, kindness and support at what was a stressful time for us. We would highly recommend her to any parents facing similar challenges. Many thanks Liz: Matthew, Jenny & Ross
Liz is so knowledgeable and informative, and she's great with the little ones. We felt informed and comforted throughout the whole process.
I recently had Liz perform a tongue tie release on my daughter and I honestly cannot recommend Liz enough. She is passionate, knowledgeable, caring and really took the time to explain everything in detail. I knew my baby was in safe hands and I couldn’t be happier with the results. Thank you Liz, you are incredible.
Liz was so helpful and full of information. No questions we asked were made feel stupid and she always took her time to answer any concerns we had. Being first time parents - we are adapting to the new emotions and she made us feel at ease.
Liz saw our baby for a tongue tie, did a thorough examination and explained to us what was happening in full detail at each stage. This was particularly appreciated as we are new parents! Once we decided to go ahead with the procedure it was quick and our baby settled down straight away. Thank you so much Liz!
As first-time parents, we were very anxious, but both Wendy and Liz were always patient, supportive and reassuring throughout the whole process. Thank you both so much.
5 star service, thank you
Liz visited us for a home assessment yesterday to explore concerns we had about our baby having a tongue tie. We were a little apprehensive beforehand but it was such a positive experience. The assessment was incredibly thorough, and Liz really took a holistic approach, covering every aspect of feeding and our baby's development. She explained all of our options in detail and answered every question we had. She was warm, knowledgeable, and professional, and I was left feeling much more informed and reassured. I would highly recommend her to any family looking for breastfeeding support or tongue tie assessments.
