Ms Fran Burns is a Dance/Movement Psychotherapist and Women’s Centred Coach whose work focuses on helping people reconnect with the wisdom of their body and mind to support emotional wellbeing, healing, and improved life choices. Her approach integrates movement, mindfulness, and psychological insight to support personal development and recovery from both emotional and physical distress.
Her therapeutic practice draws strongly on Dance/Movement Psychotherapy, mindfulness-based approaches, and adult learning frameworks. She has also trained in Kum Nye relaxation and continues to explore embodied mindfulness practices through movement. More recently, she has undertaken training in The Body Mind Approach (TBMA), which integrates movement-based psychotherapy, mindfulness, and education-based techniques to support individuals experiencing medically unexplained symptoms (MUS).
Before her current work, Ms Burns had a clinical background as a Paediatric Physiotherapist and Child Psychoanalytic Psychotherapist, with specialist experience in early development, infant and child mental health, and pre-verbal communication. This background informs her holistic, developmentally informed approach to therapy across the lifespan.
She holds an MSc in Child & Adolescent Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy from Trinity College Dublin, completed between 2005 and 2008, with a strong academic focus on attachment, early development, and trauma healing. She also completed an MSc in Dance/Movement Psychotherapy at California State University East Bay, and received physiotherapy training through University College Dublin and Mater Misericordiae University Hospital, where she obtained her physiotherapy qualification.
Ms Burns also has leadership training in Jungian psychotherapy through the Marion Woodman Foundation and is currently certified in Women’s Centred Coaching, reflecting her ongoing commitment to integrating somatic, psychological, and coaching-based approaches in her work with clients.
