Ms Edel Tierney

Edel Tierney is a compassionate counsellor and psychotherapist based in Monaghan, offering in-person and online support to adults aged 18 and over. With a Bachelor of Arts Honours Degree in Holistic Counselling and Psychotherapy from ICPPD, Edel has over four years of experience in helping clients navigate life’s challenges. Her journey into this field was inspired by her own transformative experience of grief and personal growth after the loss of a close friend, which ignited a calling to support others in their healing journeys.

Edel’s approach is rooted in humanistic and integrative methods, blending person-centred, Gestalt, and CBT techniques. She provides a safe, non-judgmental space where clients feel seen, heard, and supported at their own pace. Her practice covers a wide range of issues, including anxiety, stress, bereavement, self-esteem, trauma, and relationship challenges, with referrals accepted from individuals, GPs, and agencies.

Before becoming a psychotherapist, Edel ran a successful portrait and wedding photography business for over 16 years. Her creative background informs her therapeutic work, often incorporating artistic expression to help clients explore emotions. She is accredited by the Irish Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy. Edel is dedicated to empowering clients to heal, grow, and lead more fulfilling lives.
