Mr Damian McKay

Mr Damian McKay is an experienced and highly respected General and Colorectal Surgeon with specialist expertise in the diagnosis and treatment of colorectal cancer and inflammatory bowel disease. A graduate of Queen’s University Belfast, he obtained his MB BCh BAO in 2000 and later completed an MD for his research into inflammatory bowel diseases. He advanced his surgical skills undertaking a prestigious fellowship with the Colorectal Surgical Society of Australia and New Zealand (CSSANZ) at the Royal Adelaide Hospital. 

On returning to the UK, Mr McKay achieved European Board of Surgery certification in Coloproctology and was appointed Consultant Surgeon within the Southern Health and Social Care Trust. He has developed a high-volume colorectal practice at Craigavon Area Hospital and continues to provide specialist care through his private practice at Kingsbridge Private Hospital Belfast.

Mr McKay offers comprehensive expertise across gastrointestinal and colorectal conditions, including colorectal cancer, diverticular disease, IBD, haemorrhoidal and perianal disorders, as well as general surgical conditions such as gallbladder disease and hernia repair. Renowned for his excellent patient outcomes and low complication rates, he has also contributed significantly to regional colorectal cancer improvement initiatives in Northern Ireland.
