Dr. Alison Rooney is a Clinical Psychologist and Psychotherapist with extensive training and experience in the assessment and treatment of a broad range of psychological difficulties. She is a member of both the Psychological Society of Ireland and the British Psychological Society. Dr. Rooney holds a BA (Hons) and MA (Hons) in Psychology from University College Dublin, a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology from the University of Wales, a Postgraduate Certificate in Compassion Focused Therapy from the University of Derby, and a Postgraduate Diploma in Statistics from Trinity College Dublin.
She has completed professional training in several therapeutic approaches, including Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR), Schema Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Positive Neuroplasticity. Her clinical work addresses a wide range of difficulties such as stress, anxiety, panic attacks, social anxiety, low mood, self-criticism, sleep problems, and relationship and parenting issues. She also supports individuals experiencing school attendance difficulties, eating problems, and bullying.
In addition to therapy, Dr. Rooney conducts psychological assessments for conditions including learning difficulties, dyslexia, dyscalculia, ADHD (in both adults and children), and Autism Spectrum Disorder. Her work combines evidence-based therapeutic techniques with detailed psychological evaluation to support individual mental health and development.
