Mr Alan Oates

Alan Oates is a fully qualified Psychotherapist with a strong academic and professional background, holding a BA (Hons) in Anthropology, a Higher Diploma in Counselling and Psychotherapy, and an MA in Psychotherapy. He has worked with a range of respected organisations including the ISPCC, LIR Psychological Services, and DePaul Ireland, and has also served as a Public Representative. Alongside his clinical work, Alan brings extensive experience from the business sector, which informs his understanding of workplace pressures, organisational dynamics, and professional stress.

Alan works primarily from a humanistic and integrative framework, drawing on psychodynamic and person-centred approaches to support meaningful therapeutic change. He has experience helping individuals with a wide range of difficulties, including depression, anxiety, phobias, psychosomatic disorders, addiction, abuse, trauma, anger and rage control, loss, and bereavement. His work is grounded in thoughtful assessment and effective treatment planning, with a focus on understanding each person’s unique experiences and supporting them to move forward with greater insight and resilience.
