Dr Talaat Atassi

Dr Talaat Atassi is a highly experienced Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon with specialised expertise in trauma and shoulder surgery. He has worked as a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon at Salford Royal Foundation NHS Trust and held Honorary Senior Lecturer positions at the University of Manchester. Dr Atassi honed his expertise through several prestigious fellowships, including trauma fellowships at The Royal London Hospital and Queen Elizabeth University Hospital, as well as a shoulder fellowship at Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital.

He holds multiple advanced qualifications, including FRCSEd in Trauma and Orthopedics from the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh (2007) and FRCS from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons, Glasgow (2000). Dr Atassi earned his Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery from Damascus University, Syria, in 1991. He is also a member of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, the British Medical Association (BMA), and the British Shoulder & Elbow Society (BESS).

Fluent in both Arabic and English, Dr Atassi specialises in treating shoulder, elbow, and upper limb conditions, including sports injuries, rotator cuff tears, shoulder instability, arthritis, and trauma. He is skilled in both arthroscopic (keyhole) surgery and open shoulder surgery, with additional expertise in peripheral nerve decompressions, joint replacements, and treating tennis and golfer's elbow. His dedication to providing advanced, patient-centred care has made him a respected figure in orthopaedics.
