Dr Mahfooz Farooqui

Dr Mahfooz Farooqui is a distinguished Consultant Nephrologist with extensive experience in the diagnosis and management of complex renal conditions. He currently serves within the Health Affairs at the Ministry of National Guard in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, where he plays a pivotal role in patient care and medical education. In addition to his clinical duties, Dr Farooqui holds the position of Assistant Professor of Medicine and Nephrology at King Saud bin Abdulaziz University for Health Sciences, contributing to the academic development of future medical professionals.

His medical journey began with a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) from Liaquat University of Medical and Health Sciences in 1991. Dr Farooqui subsequently pursued advanced postgraduate training in the United States, completing his residency in Internal Medicine at the State University of New York at Buffalo in 1993. He further specialised with a fellowship in Nephrology at the same institution, which he completed in 1998. He is board-certified in both Internal Medicine and Nephrology and is a Fellow of the American College of Physicians (FACP) and the American Society of Nephrology (FASN).

Dr Farooqui is highly regarded for his leadership as the Director of the Adult Nephrology Fellowship Training Programme. His clinical expertise encompasses a broad spectrum of kidney-related disorders, including acute kidney injury, glomerulonephritis, and diabetic nephropathy. He has a particular interest in renal transplantation and dialysis modalities, ensuring comprehensive care for patients with chronic kidney disease. Furthermore, he is an active researcher with numerous publications in peer-reviewed journals, focusing on topics such as renal transplant outcomes and hypertension.
