Dr Waleed Gado is a highly experienced Consultant General Surgeon specialising in Advanced Laparoscopy and Bariatric Surgery at Zulekha Hospital with over 17 years of extensive experience in general and laparoscopic surgery.
Prior to joining Zulekha Hospital Sharjah, he held significant roles, serving as the Head of the Departments of Surgery and as a member of the Saudi Surgical Board in the Saudi German Hospital group, KSA. Dr Gado also contributed to academic excellence as an Associate Professor of General Surgery Endocrine, Bariatric, and Metabolic Surgery at Mansoura Faculty of Medicine, Egypt.
Dr Gado completed his medical degree at Mansoura University, Egypt in 2002, followed by his Master’s degree (residency training) in general surgery at the same university in 2008. He completed his postgraduate training in Surgical Science at Mansoura University, Egypt in 2014. He was an Assistant Professor of Endocrine, Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery at Mansoura University from 2014 to 2020 and is now an Associate Professor.
Dr Gado holds professional memberships of various surgical societies, including the Egyptian Society of Surgeons, European Society of Laparoscopic and Endoscopic Surgeons, Egyptian Society of Bariatric Surgery, IFSO Society, and the Society of Upper Gastrointestinal Surgeons.
Dr Gado's special interests span a wide spectrum, including: laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy, RY gastric bypass, mini gastric bypass, SASI bypass, revisional bariatric surgery, and management of complicated bariatric surgery. Additionally, his expertise extends to laparoscopic metabolic surgery for DM and hypercholesterolemia, swallowable (smart) gastric balloon, laparoscopic repair of reflux oesophagitis and diaphragmatic hernia, laparoscopic cholecystectomy, duodenal ulcer repair, colorectal surgeries, breast operations, thyroid and parathyroid operations, endoscopic thoracic sympathectomy.
He also has experience carrying out a comprehensive range of operations for various conditions such as haemorrhoids, anal fissure, anal fistula, pilonidal sinus, benign and malignant skin tumours, varicose veins, and diabetic foot surgeries and care.
