Dr. Rizwana Popatia is a Medical Director and Consultant Pediatric Pulmonologist with a wealth of experience in pediatric respiratory medicine and sleep disorders. Her roles include serving as the Medical Director at the Mubadala Health facility in Jumeirah, Dubai, and holding the position of Assistant Professor in Pediatrics at the Mohammed Bin Rashid University of Medicine and Health Sciences (MBRU).

With a strong background in pediatric pulmonology and sleep medicine, Dr. Popatia has made significant contributions to healthcare institutions globally. She previously served as a Pediatric Pulmonologist and Sleep Medicine physician at Al Jalila Children’s Hospital and held academic positions at Weill Cornell Medical College and New York-Presbyterian Hospital/Weill Cornell Medical Center in the United States.

Dr. Popatia holds board certifications in Pediatrics and Pediatric Pulmonology. She actively contributes to professional societies, holding leadership positions such as Vice-President of the Pediatric Pulmonology Chapter and Secretary of the Sleep Medicine Chapter of the Emirates Thoracic Society (ETS). Additionally, she plays pivotal roles in clinical governance, research, and medical staff administration at Amana Healthcare and Mubadala Health Dubai.

Dr. Popatia completed her medical degree (M.D.) from M.P. Shah Medical College, India, where she graduated with top honors and received numerous accolades, including 17 gold medals. She completed her residency in Pediatrics at the State University of New York – Downstate Hospital, followed by a Fellowship in Pediatric Pulmonology at Boston Children’s Hospital/Harvard Medical School.

Beyond clinical practice, Dr. Popatia is engaged in medical education, research, and global health initiatives. Her research interests encompass various aspects of pediatric respiratory medicine, including pulmonary manifestations of COVID-19 and MIS-C, monogenic mutations in pulmonary diseases, and cardiopulmonary exercise testing. She has authored multiple publications in prestigious journals and serves as an editorial board member for esteemed publications like the Journal of Pediatrics and Child Care and the International Journal of Pediatric Health Care and Advancements.
