Dr Ahmed Shabana is an experienced ophthalmologist with more than 17 years of experience in the field in different countries.

He is one of the most seeked after ophthalmologists in the U.A.E, after working for more than 5 years in the country, and being the head of the ophthalmology departments in many hospitals in the country,  he is currently working in the ophthalmology department of Al Zahra Hospital in Dubai, which is one of the top private hospitals in the city.

Dr Shabana treats all eye conditions in pediatric and adult population, his scope of service:

-Eye lid diseases and managment like chalazion and ptosis and dermatochalisis

-Conjunctiva diseases like conjunctivits and mits medical managment

-Corneal diseases like pterygium surgeries and keratoconus managment using cross linking or corneal rings or corneal transplant

-Refractive surgeries like PRK, LASIK, SMILE, ICL and Refarctive Lens Exchange

-Glaucoma surgeries for pediatric and adults including congenital glaucoma and surgical managment using MIGS and tubes and laser

-Lens disease like cataract with managment using Phaco and small incision with Monofocal, Toric, EDOF or Multifocal IOLS

-Uveitis managment

-Retinal disease assesment and surgical managment

-Dr Shabana has a very specific interest in managment of Presbyopia ( weak vision after the age of 40) using LASIK which he pioneers the procedure in all of U.A.E, and special interest in complex glaucoma surgeries

-Dr Shabana gained his medical qualification in 2006 from Cairo University before undertaking his senior residency at Misr University of Science and Technology.

-He went on to gain a master's degree in ophthalmology from Azhar University.

-He obtained his membership of the Royal College of Surgeons in Edinburgh-Scotlan in 2017( MRCSEd)

-He obtained his fellowship in the International College of Ophthalmologist in Brussels-Belgium in 2020 (FICO).

-He has also trained in Jules Gonin Hospital in Lausanne, Switzerland, and in I.M.O eye hospital in Barcelona-Spain.

-Dr Shabana is a member of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh and a member of the International Society of Glaucoma Surgeons.

-Dr Shabana speaks English, Arabic, and Spanish.
