comforting , reassuring and very accurate diagnosis, where the others failed miserably. Followed up by first class treatment , with the empathy to check some weeks after that results are ongoing. Super , super impressed.  

I’m sharing these exercises not only as a shoulder specialist but also a recovering patient - I’ve had surgery on both shoulders. 

Surgeons do surgery and I stick to what I’m good. However it’s useful being “in the trade” as I’ve had the privilege of rehab advice from lots of colleagues including but not limited to @shouldergeek and @benashworth. It’s also actually really useful having been a patient as I can completely relate to my patients when they are anxious that they have reinjured themselves (they usually haven’t!).

I’ve learned that rehab is an ongoing process and in order to maintain my own shoulder health these are the exercises I use. 

I do them regularly. 
I do them when I feel pain in my shoulder. 
I do them when I feel my shoulders are tiring. I do them when I feel I might have overdone it with other forms of exercise. 
I do them when I think I need to remind myself of shoulder “posture”. 

Contrary to what some patients fear, exercise can help to relieve pain as long as it is done in the right order and with the right exercises. If you’re a post op patient and need a toolbox of exercises like these, speak to your physical therapist. They’re always happy to help and guide you.
