The appointment was not was expected unfortunately. When I made the appointment I told his secretary that I was waiting for my AMH results to come through, and asked whether I should wait until I had the results. After checking with Dr Nardo, she said it was fine and that we should continue. During the consultation, I was told that nothing could be done until I had the test results and would need a follow up consultation once the results are in. Why not just wait until I had the results as it would have helped to not waste anyone's time or my money. I wanted the appointment to request a prescription for letrozole to support ovulation and conception. Dr Nardo made his position very clear that he supports the NICE standards that state 'Do not offer oral ovarian stimulation agents (such as clomifene citrate, anastrozole or letrozole) to women with unexplained infertility. Inform women with unexplained infertility that clomifene citrate as a standalone treatment does not increase the chances of a pregnancy or a live birth'. While I understand that this is the case, I cannot find any evidence to suggest that it actively decreases your chances of a live birth anywhere. Dr Nardo quoted a position that older women have a natural selection when it comes to ovulation. That once over 39 the body naturally selects the better quality egg for ovulation. I cannot find any scientific evidence to back this up anywhere and I have asked Dr's and my IVF support group. I have emailed this to Dr Nardo's office - and requested to know which studies he is quoting from, and also part of the fee reembursed as this could have been handled very differently.

Our first consultation gave us a good insight, we felt listened to. Professor Luciano Nardo remained professional throughout the meeting. We hope that our experience continues to improve as we go through our journey to get the best possible outcome.

There are so many clinics out there and options to consider, you never know what is best for you if you don’t get to talk to a specialist like the Professor Nardo. We had a first consultation where he explained to me things in details and gave me a plan of action.
