I have been under Mr Shergill care since 2014 when I had a very successful Template Biopsy. He is not only an extraordinary surgeon but an extraordinary human being who I cannot thank enough for his care and concern. On 22 Dec 2022 I had a Holep performed by Mr Shergill, having a specialist like him nearly everyone would want, but many people do not get that experience. Mr Shergill has been so good to my wife Sandra and myself and helped us both through our journey all this time. It is a pleasure to have met him and to have him in our lives . From the moment I met Professor Iqbal Shergill I knew that he was the person I would like to deal with my urological issues. I was quite content with the treatment I had received from my more local hospital, but when it came to major surgery I chose Professor Shergill to carry it out. I don’t have comprehensive insurance cover, but am registered with Benenden Health (who I would also recommend to anyone) and they agreed to fund my operation. Professor Shergill was very happy to go over and above his specialist medical remit in supporting me in liaising with Benenden. I also found it remarkable, and incredibly helpful, that he would always respond personally and promptly to any queries I raised with him by email. He even sent some test results to me while he was out of the country, which did a lot to ease any anxieties as the news was good. Anyone meeting Professor Shergill for the first time will surely be impressed with his professional knowledge and expertise, his ability to communicate clearly and effectively, his obvious genuine care for his patients and the manner in which he puts people at ease and provides reassurance. I was very anxious when I considered what I had to go through and the latter point was important to me. He was so friendly from the outset, and I had great confidence that all would go well with my operation. The experience of the operation at Spire Yale Wrexham, so relaxed and reassuring, is testament to the professionalism and competence of the whole team, led by Professor Shergill. The operation certainly was successful as I comment today some six weeks after surgery. Every post-operative aspect that occurred was normal, and had been fully explained to me by Professor Shergill. I was able to report great improvement and progress at my follow up appointment and I am confident that complete success will result over the coming weeks. I wholeheartedly recommend Professor Shergill, he has effectively given me back an important part of my life. As a (hopefully a very young at heart) 72 year old, I feel so much more confident and can certainly look forward to enjoying life to a greater extent. Professor Shergill is not just an exceptional and respected consultant, but a thoroughly decent human being. This is a great opportunity for me to record my thanks and gratitude for everything he has done to help me.

I came to Professor Shergill after experiencing problems urinating due to an enlarged prostate and i had been fitted with a catheter. After having a scan the Professor recommended Holep laser surgery to remove the area of the prostate that was causing the problem. He explained to me clearly the details of the operation, the possible side effects and the likely outcome. My operation was carried out on a Wednesday afternoon, and i was allowed home 36 hours later, without a catheter. The staff were brilliant throughout. Professor Shergill made sure i was comfortable and well informed throughout the whole process, and my operation was a complete success. I would recommend his services to anyone with similar problems to me, he did a fantastic job and i now have a normal life again.

I cannot fault the care and treatment that I have received from Professor Shergill. At each stage the nature of my condition was clearly explained, and the options for treatment described. I learnt from him the different options for investigating the illness, and Professor Shergill was a practitioner in the latest of these. Once a diagnosis was arrived at options for treatment were explained, including the latest techniques, conducted by the Professor himself. To allow me to judge the treatment options, he even arranged consultations with other Specialists who offered ' traditional ' routes, thus allowing me to make a fully informed judgement. I opted to undergo cryo-surgery with Professor Shergill. This was four years ago, but even now he shows an interest, and offers comment on the results of the 6 monthly tests that are undertaken to monitor the effectiveness of the operation. At all stages he has offered objective, and at the same time clearly sincere judgements of my condition and potential outcomes. I am confident that being treated by Professor Shergill has helped my cope with a worrying and threatening condition.

I am overjoyed by the result of the HoLEP treatment performed by Professor Iqbal Shergill at the Spire Yale Hospital, Wrexham, in December 2019. I had been living with the problem of Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia (BPH) since 2003, when the size of the prostate was an estimated 30 gms. The problem remained until a retention and sepsis crisis occurred in December 2015, requiring admission to A&E. A scan revealed a prostate with an estimated size of 140 ml. After ten weeks, a standard TURP was performed, during which only 40 gms of tissue could be removed safely in the time available, leaving a still large prostate of about 100 gms.. I obtained some relief from the standard TURP, but after two years the symptoms returned, eventually resulting in another severe UTI and catheterisation. An alternative to the standard TURP was sought. Professor Shergill was able to remove 170 gms of tissue by means of the HoLEP procedure, which was painless compared to a standard TURP. I am now completely free of the misery of BPH and, just weeks after surgery, am not subject to incontinence, nor, for the first time in twenty years, broken nights of sleep due to nocturia. My gratitude to Professor Shergill is unbounded.

I was transferred Over to Mr Iqbal Shergil 10 years ago my experience of this man is five star .in the last 40years ive seen every urology consult in the Wrexhan maelor hospital I had the best but he his the best if the best in his field. He has a lovely beside manor . My hospital notes are about 18in thick the largest he has seen think he will agee. Mr Shergil had a different approach than previous consults on dealing with my stones he took my too theatre every six months to remove stones then then 12minths and finnaly the longest nearly three years. Mr Shergil understands pain even the smallest stone can cause .This approach of removing the stones regularly in theatre has give me a better quality of life and has saved the NHS a lot of time and money I have nothing only but praise for Mr Shergil he doesnt try his best but gives his best. A little storey . There was an elderly Gentle on the ward married for over seventy years his wife was a lovely lady he talked how wounerful she was and what a woundful life they had together. he was lovely gentleman wasn't he Mr Shergil you left the ward in tears my friend . He siad how wounderful you had been you give your best and he knew it you give him your time you made him has comfortable has he could be we were all in tears that day Professor Iqbal Shergil my experience as a paiant has been 5 star and for the kindness you showed that lovely couple 10/10 you are one in a million
