From being extremely apprehensive, my mind was immediately put at rest from the moment the procedure was explained in detail.

In stark contrast to my experience with previous cataract surgery, Mr Ramkissoon was thorough, professional and reassuring. The surgery itself was very impressive. Having been provided with written and verbal information about different types of lenses, their purpose and effectiveness, I was able to make an informed choice about the right procedure for me. Mr Ramkissoon also avoids the use of injections into the eye (which, though painless at the time cause soreness after the procedure) and inserts a small stitch to prevent infection, which is removed painlessly at the follow up appointment. Immediately on leaving surgery my eye was clear and it was impossible to tell that surgery had taken place. The new lens was obviously superior to the one inserted into my other eye and my vision cleared within 24 hours, so that I am able to read without specs even in the evening. I was telephoned by Mr Ramkissoon on the day after surgery and provided with direct contact details for use in the event of problems. Mr Ramkissoon is a skilled and gifted surgeon whose work I cannot fault. I recommend him very highly.

This was an annual follow up for my fairly rare eye condition. Mr Ramkissoon explained the new scans and photos in detail including their relevance. Examination was thorough with further explanation. In particular I was given the opportunity to ask questions. While I am retired from a different medical specialty it was not assumed I knew ophthalmic detail and this is an important part of a consultation with a colleague. I was also asked to contact him should there be the need prior to the next appointment which is also reassuring.

Mr Ramkissoon provided everything I needed to make decisions about the choices I had and performed the procedures to the highest standards that I had expected given recommendations from others.
