Mr Duncan Learmonth is a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon with a particular interest in knee and shoulder surgery. More specifically, knee arthroscopy, knee ligament surgery, knee replacement, shoulder arthroscopy, shoulder replacement surgery and rotator cuff repair.

Mr Learmonth qualified in Medicine from the University of Birmingham in 1982. Prior to this, he completed a BSc in Physiology and Biochemistry at Southampton University. He undertook his surgical training in Birmingham and Leicester, before completing a fellowship in 1986. In 1993, he was awarded his accreditation in Orthopaedic Surgery and also became a Consultant at the Royal Orthopaedic Hospital in the same year. He then helped set up and worked in the Birmingham Knee and Shoulder Clinic in 2004 at the Priory Hospital, before moving into the private sector in 2007. Despite this, he continues to have an NHS contract at the Royal Orthopaedic Hospital.

Apart from his clinical work, he teaches in Regional Orthopaedic Training Programmes and has worked as a Surgical Tutor for the Royal College of Surgeons. Mr Learmonth also attends the Norwegian, Greek and Egyptian Orthopaedic Association meetings as a guest speaker, and has written in both journal articles and book chapters on his clinical work.
