Today was a follow-up appointment with Mr. Hettige after my initial consultation in November 2022. He has a very calm, compassionate nature and really takes care to ensure a thorough but simplified (i.e. laymen’s) explanation of the procedures he’s carrying out as he does them and of his findings which puts you at ease. Treatment and aftercare is explained in an easy-to-follow manner and he has ensured that I do not have to see him again without underlying medical reason prematurely (as some other consultants have tried to do in the past…). Overall he is just a thoroughly lovely, genuine and non-judgmental person (if slightly overworked at present!) who does not charge extortionate consultation fees and whose care and diligence has really led to a massive improvement in my condition in a short time. Just beware that if he requires blood tests to do your research as to the facilities available as I ended up unwittingly going to one private hospital which charged an astronomical amount for these; I must make it clear that this was not on Mr. Hettige’s recommendation one way or another. Mr Roland Hettige treated me for a deviated septum and turbinate reduction, explaining the pros and risks of surgery, enabling me to make a fully informed decision that I was comfortable with.
