My overall experience with Mr O. Karim is excellent, on every occasion regardless why I see him,be it a follow-up appointment, first consultation or post-op visit on a ward. He is not only an excellent urology surgeon but also an extremely likable person. He is kind, polite, respects patients' privacy, is attentive (= listens to one's questions and answers them at the appropriate level), has excellent bedside manner and does not rush appointments.

I was most fortunate to be referred by my GP to see Mr Karim follow abnormal PSA results. A DRE, SPSA Test and an MRI Scan was quickly arranged for me. The result of which led to a Focal Biopsy by general anaesthetic to confirm that Prostate cancer existed and to what degree of severity. Mr Karim advised that for my age (61) I should consider having nerve sparing, robotic radical surgery to give me the best long term outcome. However he did not push me on this and recommended that I look at all other options with no time pressure before making my decision. Having reviewed all the many options I felt qualified to take the bold decision to choose surgery. Of course I was very nervous. Who wouldn’t be ? Mr Karim was absolutely brilliant, I could not have been in more caring or professional hands !! He led me along every step of the journey. Even on the morning after my Surgery, Mr Karim arrived at my bedside at 6.30am having travelled up to London from home to the Wellington Hospital to tell me that everything had gone to plan, that he was happy and that I should make a full recovery !! The follow up visits to his clinic in Maidenhead went well too. I’ve now had five years of annual PSA blood tests which have all been clear and I am now considered cured. What better outcome can I have hoped for ? In my view Mr Karim not only saved my life but also my quality of life. Additionally he’s a charming gentleman and a highly skilled professional !

I am 83 and over the course of my lifetime has needed to consult doctors on a whole variety of complaints. Mr Karim has treated me successfully for the condition I brought to him and was also at all times patient, kind and informative. If it doesn't seem too over-the-top to say so, I do regard him as an honour to his profession.

His manner is calm, he is professional, easy to talk to and gives the time necessary for you to ask all of your questions either at the meeting or afterwards, as we all forget things or have other questions after reflection It is very reassuring knowing you are in very capable hands with a consultant who takes the time and effort to keep himself up to date to offer his patients the lastest techniques which aren’t necessarily readily available elsewhere - in my case I was successfully treated with a non invasive procedure called Rezum - my symptoms very much improved and I am now tablet free for my condition. I have no hestitation in recommending Mr Karim and I will be first in the queue if I have any other issues that require the help of a urologist
