I had an initial consultation with Mr. Templeton-Ward and I found him to be easy to communicate with and friendly. He avoided hard to understand phraseology. We agreed to proceed with a half knee replacement at the Nuffield at a time which suited my personal plans. During surgery, it turned out that I required a full knee replacement but the risk of this occurring had already been mentioned during our consultation. The other knee is likely to receive the same treatment in the coming months. The pre-op reviews and expectation setting with the Anaesthetist were clear and well-explained I am at the post-operation stage of 4 weeks now and have found the new knee to be absolutely straight. After a few days of initial high pain levels, things have settled down and progress seems to be very good. I have had a first post -op review with Mr. Templeton-Ward and he has stated that he is pleased with progress, as am I. Mr Templeton-Ward has an excellent Medical Secretary, Lauren and she was most helpful in facilitating all of the arrangements.

He offered me the option of a brace for my knee if I didn't want surgery, so there was no pressure to have surgery. I was shown the x-rays before and after surgery with all the explanation I required. He asked me what I hoped to get out of my surgery and did not laugh at my ambitions. He was always cheerful and upbeat in spite of Covid-19 and the inability for operations to go ahead. I was kept informed about re-opening of the surgical ward. In fact I only saw him for consultation, pre and post-op and for follow-ups. He always gave satisfactory answers to my questions and had been informed of my post-op progress by the physio department. An excellent outcome from a total Knee replacement and knee-cap surgery form a talented and caring surgeon. Thank you
Thank-you so much for leaving us this detailed and thoughtful review. We are so pleased that, in spite of the challenges the last year or so has presented us with, that you were so satisfied with both the experience and the outcome. We do hope that we can always be cheerful and optimistic for our patients; it is just as important as the treatment itself. Best of luck with your new knee and all that it will now enable you to do!

I was expecting to have to continue managing my knees symptomatically and was very happy with the outcome. I was given a full explanation of the diagnosis and shown the x rays and grateful that I was able to discuss the issues
Thank-you for taking the time to write this review. It is extremely pleasing to know you were so satisfied with your treatment, and in the way you were handled.

Mr Oliver Templeton Ward in my opinion is an excellent orthopaedic surgeon. He explained the procedure and the possible after effects but also reassured me the overal surgery would be a benefit, which has turned out to be true. His aftercare is also excellent.
We are delighted you are so pleased with your treatment, and felt you were guided to the correct solution for you. Our aftercare is just as important as any other aspect of treatment, and it is good to hear it is appreciated. Thanks for taking the time to leave us this review.
