I found him to explain things in great detail. Advising that not doing exercises would cause me more problems in the long term. I was happy to comply and do my exercises. We discussed my other knee and agreed to meet again in 3 months to see whether I would need surgery.

Mr Moholkar on follow up from surgery 6 weeks on could have been less abrupt and understanding of individuals requirements. Motivation could have been better but his competence in surgery was excellant. The follow up after 10 days following 6 week checkup was dealt with well and reassuring

Very clear about treatments and expectations in a friendly way

Mr Moholkar is very diligent, clear and precise in what is wrong, what he needs to do and what is required from me to achieve the best outcome possible. This can seem a little 'daunting' at times but he also has a good sense of humour which helps and I do understand that his insistance on aspects such as weight loss if for my own good.

Mr Moholkar explained the alternatives to surgery, and made it clear that knee replacement is major surgery and not to be taken lightly. He also made clear that beyond the actual surgery, the long-term outcome is very much dependent on the patient following medical advice, looking after their health and weight, and doing the physiotherapy exercises. Whilst recovering, Mr Moholkar explained that it is important to take pain medication at regular intervals, as it is much better to preempt pain rather than react to it. In hospital I nevertheless experienced some discomfort particularly at night, but ice-packs and/or top-up pain meds were readily provided. I have continued to use pain meds and ice-packs during my recovery at home. Having had several post-op consultations with Mr Moholkar, I feel confident that I am well-informed to make a good recovery.
