I was referred to Mr Kalsi because I was experiencing severe bladder dysfunction. He was very thorough in investigating the problem and I had a number of scans and a cystoscopy examination before confirming that the problem was caused by a massively enlarged prostate. Mr Kalsi recommended prostate reduction using a HoLEP procedure. The surgery went well and the symptons are now greatly improved. Throughout my treatment, Mr Kalsi was very attentive, approachable and empathic. His knowledge is reassuring and I had every confidence in his advice. Dear Mr Kalsi, It was a pleasure seeing you yesterday and thank you for all the arrangements. I have developed PD about eight months ago. After checking a few options, I decided to travel all the way from my home country, Jordan, for an appointment with Mr Kalsi. After diagnosing my case he recommended injections with Collagenase, where I had my first injection about a month ago. In the two weeks after the injection, there was a mild improvement. However, in the third and fourth weeks, there was a noticeable improvement of at least 10 degrees. I just had my second injection and looking forward to completing the treatments. Thank you. I am wanting to tell you of a special consultant based in the spire Thames Valley Hospital. I have now known this gentleman to 20 months and he has never been anything other than a consummate professional with a clear emphatic approach to his treatment of me. Mr Kalsi first saw me in May 2018 as I was experiencing blood in my urine. I had been referred by Dr Brian McGirr of Doctor now. After some thorough investigation it was determied that I had cancer in the bladder. This was devasting news and my wife and I required guidance and support to decide the way ahead. Mr Kalsi explained the position thoroughly and outlined the various courses of action open to me. A number of surgical procedures followed in short order and the growth was removed. Options for continuing surveillance were discussed agreed and a plan put in place which is now being followed. From the start of my treatment, it was apparent to Mr Kalsi that I also had a very distended prostate which again was a worry in view of the bladder cancer. Mr Kalsi explained the required treatment and put my mind at rest before and after the procedure to reduce the prostate. My wife has literally been beside me at all points in the treatment of both conditions. She has been and continues to be an inspiration and support to me. Mr Kalso had always included my wife in all discussions and he has answered her questions and addressed her worries. Of course one expects great knowledge, skills and experience from medical and surgical consultants. It's also a given that they are empathetic with patients. Four months ago Mr Kalsi carried out a size reduction operation on my very enlarged prostate using the Holmium laser machine. I am delighted with the result, previously my prostate had become uncomfortable. I am particularly pleased that I am left with no problems of erection or of leakage of urine.Had I realised how effective the operation would be ,and that there would be a lack of problem after-effects, I would have had it done much sooner. Mr Kalsi is a really excellent surgeon and I thoroughly recommend him. He is also extremely pleasant, caring and helpful and is always available to answer queries. I would however advise anyone having this operation to take Mr Kalsi's advice and avoid any vigorous exercise for some time after the operation, I suggest two months. Otherwise there is a danger of re bleeding which did happen in my case following in one case an over exuberant rush up the stairs and another when I went down with a hacking cough for several days.
